Dr. Indu Shahani


Dean & Faculty of Commerce & Management

Dr. Indu Shahani, Founding Dean of ISME, is the driving force behind the institution’s energy and excellence. Along with four decades in Academics she has been Sheriff of Mumbai, Member of the University Grants Commission, Principal of HR College of Commerce & Economics, Vice-Chair on the Board of Governors of the International Baccalaureate. She currently sits on corporate boards of Colgate, Bajaj Electricals, United Spirits, BNP, Franklin among others. In her current role as President & Chair, Dr. Shahani’s responsibilities include establishing the institutions, academic and administrative leadership and oversight across multidisciplinary programs.

Prof. Heena Thakkar


Vice Dean & Faculty of Accounting & Financial Management

With teaching experience of 35 years, Prof. Heena Thakkar has been an academic and administrator par excellence. She holds a Master’s degree in Financial Accounting & Management from University of Mumbai and an Advanced Diploma in Computer Technology from Tata Unisys Ltd.. Prof. Thakkar was the Vice Principal at H. R. College of Commerce & Economics, where she was instrumental in introducing four new degree programs in Finance and Accounting, Banking, Financial Markets, and Media Studies. Prof. Thakkar has successfully spearheaded three cycles of the NAAC accreditation as the NAAC Coordinator and consistently received the highest grade in the country for HR College of Commerce & Economics, a leading college in Mumbai.

Dr. Sonia Bharwani


Senior Associate Dean & Faculty of Marketing & Strategy

An academic with over sixteen years of experience in teaching, Dr. Sonia completed her Ph.D. in Business Administration from AIMA-AMU, New Delhi-Aligarh, India. She received an MBA in International Business from Manchester Business School in the U.K., and she was also an MBA Exchange Student at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, North Carolina, USA. Her core strengths lie in student engagement through the use of active and collaborative learning pedagogies. She has published over 15 International Publications in areas of Hospitality Management, Education and Tourism.

Dr. Shefalika Narain


Director, IRIS (Institute of Research for Innovative Strategies)

She has been the Head of Department of Journalism at Mt.Carmel College Banglore for 6 years.

Dr. Shefalika Narain has a wide teaching experience having served as Asst. Professor, Bachelor of Mass Media, Jai Hind College, Mumbai and Master’s of Public Policy, St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has handled various subjects in the Social Sciences.

She has authored several papers such as ‘A study on the Mid-day Meal’,
‘Questioning the legitimacy of Public Interest Litigation’ and ‘Women’s movement and other forms of protest as tools to realize women’s rights in India’

She has conducted a Social Impact Study for Eureka Forbes and spearheaded the advocacy program.

Currently undertaking a project on: The key social concerns that banks could support as part of their CSR obligations.

Dr. Sapna Malya


Professor for Finance

Prof. Dr. Sapna Malya is a Chartered Accountant and a doctorate in Finance.

She has a teaching experience of more than 18 years in subjects of Accounting and Finance from undergraduate to postgraduate level.

Currently she is a visiting faculty at Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research along with teaching at ISME.

Meena Desai


Associate Dean

With a teaching experience of over 15 years, Meena is widely loved by her students and is a passionate teacher at heart.

Her areas of interest include Business Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour and Entrepreneurship.

In 2016, Meena was awarded the “Emerging Woman Leader” by the Higher Education Forum.

Meena has been the recipient of a fully paid Capacity Building Scholarship for a Masters in Human Resource Management at the University of Westminster, London (2007-2008). She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Management from NMIMS University, Mumbai. Currently she is pursuing her PhD from the University of Mumbai in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Prior to joining ISME, Meena was a full time faculty and Coordinator of the Unaided Programs at the prestigious H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.

Omkar Pandharkame


Program Evangelist

Omkar is a serial entrepreneur who has founded GoCollab and SkillStreet.

He has also been the Head of Marketing at Desi Hangover and a Marketing Associate at the Consulate General of Netherlands in Mumbai.

Additionally, he was a Marketing Associate at the Ministry of Tourism & Youth Romania and a Management Trainee in Linde India.

He is a Holistically trained professional in the domain of marketing, people skills and entrepreneurship.

He is well researched in the fields of social learning, collaborative

consumption & skill sharing.

He is also an orator, startup enthusiast and a creative problem solver.

Shreya has over a decade of entrepreneurial experience in the Securities
Markets, spearheading all the operations at her family business. Her
passion to share real time experience with students in classrooms got her to start
her education career a few years ago.

She was previously working with the BMS section at R. A Podar College of
Commerce & Economics, Mumbai.

She has been training for finance curriculum at undergraduate programs.

Shreya has pursued her PGDM at FLAME University & is SET Qualified.

Ameya Ambulkar


Adjunct Professor Entrepreneurship

Ameya Ambulkar, is associated with ISME as an adjunct professor and is a NET (India rank 7) & SET (State rank 1) certified professor in management, marketing, business ethics, and corporate governance.He has over half a decade of experience in teaching at institutes like H.R. College of Commerce, Amity global business school, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of technology and united business institute. Social Entrepreneurship is his focal interest and is involved in mentoring students and budding social entrepreneurs.
He currently works as a core team member in ‘Leap For Word’ a social enterprise dedicated to improving the English language learning landscape of rural India.
